Lilian Maud Evans (The last snap I took of Mum) [in People]

Biography

Birth1 January 1931Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was born on 1 January 1931 in Neath, Glamorgan (Morgannwg) County, Wales (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Birth place is also shown (in sources) as in Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire (and Glamorganshire) and as in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire; Don also has notes that share Treharris as the location1,2
Marriage29 September 1950John Barry Shave, Don's Dad R.I.P., and she were married on 29 September 1950 at Registry OfficeG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+.3,4
Death8 April 2010She died on 8 April 2010 at age 79 at Nightingale Nursing Home at 2 Roselyn Road in Talbot WoodsG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. The cause of her death (at the age of 79) on Thursday, April 8th, 2010 after moving into the Nightingale care-home (with Don's brother Alan's help) on Tuesday, March 3rd, was that our Mum passed away there peacefully after fighting liver cancer for about 4 years5
Cremationabout 10 April 2010She was cremated about 10 April 2010 in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. After the funeral service, she was cremated and her ashes were scattered by her son Alan (Don's brother) and her brother Joe (Don's uncle) in a place known to us as the "Bluebell Woods," very near to her childhood home, where she had played along with her family; an image is attached
NameLilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was also known as Lilian Maude.6
Person SourceShe had person sources.7,8
NotePeter is attached here to ensure his connection; they were not married, just very close friends.
NoteDon's Mum's Godmother was Agnes Evans.
Historical factabout 1933She; about 1933. Don's Mum sadly knew nothing of her mother, Maud, who died from the childbirth of her brother Joe when Mum was just 2… she had just one photograph, which is attached
Residence1937She lived in County of Glamorgan (Morgannwg), Wales (United Kingdom), EuropeG, in 1937. Resource event had no description; added / NFIA9
Residencebetween 1938 and 1945She lived at Castle CottagesG in North Baddesley, Hampshire, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG, between 1938 and 1945. Dates are a tad fuzzy but the timeframe is correct for both the Cottages and the Bluebell Woods (images attached)

The note at Violet Tegwyn Jones shares further information
Residenceabout 1939She lived in County of Surrey, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG, about 1939. Resource event had no description; added / NFIA10
Historical fact1951She; at BeachesG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, in 1951. Snapshot caught of them on the beach; timeframe is a guess
Historical factNovember 1963She; in Manchester, County of Manchester, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, in November 1963. Don's Uncle Peter (who is a core part of this event) was up in Manchester with Don's Mum for a few days in November of 1963, where Don is catching her massive life change events here…

They had unexpectedly left together about 4 months after the disaster of Dawn's death during Mum's difficult delivery, and, at the age of 8, Jamie was sent to stay for a few days at Hedworth Court, his Gran/Granddad's Hotel (in Bournemouth) while Don's Dad went off to try and retrieve his Mum; could have been a weekend, as Jamie was in school

There must have been a very, very cold spell at that time because the pipes upstairs in the guest rooms had frozen and then burst while Jamie was there; hence the timeframe. Gran took him upstairs to the rooms to see the blue lights of the heaters, as he recalls

While there are no actual references as to what happened in the hundred+days prior to this, it can be certain that Don's Mum would have been heavily depressed from her daughter's death…she might have found in her mind something that was better than her (likely) angry & very unfriendly husband and his family, whom (it is suspected) had never liked her

She did share her hatred for Don's Dad with me on a visit (likely post-2008, Dad's death) where, upon her return from Manchester by Don's Dad, she was taken by him to Hedworth Court where she was surrounded in a room by Dad's family who "pecked" at her "like crows" (likely Don't Aunt Daphne, Uncle Doug and Granddad; NFIA); she also shared that people would cross the road (likely 70 Elmes) to avoid her
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Don does know that things recovered for his Mum in the following years, with the agreed-to-birth ('with Johnny', per her diary) of Don's brother Alan in 1968, and the continued presence of Peter…

There were card games at 70 Elmes with Peter & June; there was a day-trip (1965 or so) to the roller-coaster park at Southend-on-Sea with Don's Mum & Peter; Dad was a plumber/roofer/etc around this time; when he was doing roof work with Peter, he managed to wreck his back falling off a ladder; peter crashed his lorry, and Don visited him in hospital; he had brought his stolen chickens (early 80's) to 70 Elmes where they were buried in the garden to help keep him out of jail

He also recalls that when he lived at 14 Albany Rd (in the late 70's, with Jane), Peter did do our roof

More memories are not yet shared here…
Occupationbetween 1965 and 1968Between 1965 and 1968 Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was an Operator at the telephone exchange in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+.
Graduationabout 1980She graduated about 1980 at Walton Hall, Kents HillG, in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG. After working on it for several years, Don's Mum received an OU certificate… see www.open.ac.uk for details

Occupationbetween 1981 and 1995Between 1981 and 1995 Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Mum was a MENSA member (www.mensa.org) with an IQ of 160
Funeralabout 10 April 2010The funeral was held for Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., about 10 April 2010 in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Don sadly could not attend the funeral as there were no flights available at that time to anywhere in Europe--the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Iceland (image attached) had exploded in April of 2010, filling the atmosphere with an enormous ash-cloud that prevented planes from flying…

[Mum also] remembers that when her parents took over 2 Old Cottages, the shed at the bottom of the garden was full of baking equipment which belonged to Jim. Died as King of Sweden
NameDag DyggvisSon, Don's 51st GGF, was also known as Dag "The Wise."
NoteDag the Wise (or Dagr Spaka) was a Swedish king of the House of Ynglings (dated to the 4th century by 16th-century historiographer Johannes Magnus). He was the son of Dyggvi, the former king. According to legend, he could understand the speech of birds and had a sparrow that gathered news for him from many lands. When the bird was killed on one of these trips, Dag invaded Reidgotaland (considering the date and location, apparently Gothiscandza), in order to avenge it. There he was ambushed by a thrall and killed

The earliest two versions based on Ynglingatal, i.e. Historia Norwegiæ and Íslendingabók (see below) say that Dag was succeeded by his sons Alrekr and Eírikr who in their turn were succeeded by Dag's grandson Agne
