Birth | 25 July 1955 | Donald James Shave, (named after his two Grandfathers), was born on 25 July 1955 at Boscombe HospitalG in Boscombe, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Don was advised (via a 1984 birthday card that his Mum had painted for his 39th & had made notes in) that he had arrived in the Boscombe Hospital at 4:55am on Monday, July 25th as a tiny 5-pound baby… He was also given to understand from his Mum (unsure as to when, but likely as a teenager) that her baby had been named at birth after his 2 Grandfathers, Donald Sebastian Shave and James Ernest Evans With a reported low birth weight of 5 pounds/5 ounces-ish, Don's Dad had once said that when he held Jamie as a baby, he was like "a ball of string with 5 pieces attached" for those skinny arms & legs The time & the size "facts" (from Don's Mum) are also her numismatics for "5" being Don's most important number, apparently / NFIA…1,2,3 |

Between September, 1971 and March, 1973, after Don was at Harrogate for a while, a phone protocol was established with 70 Elmes for a series of Saturday calls. At a specific phone of the 3 phone booths that were near to the churches, he'd ring up 70 Elmes around lunchtime, and hang up after letting it ring 3 times…it never failed (to his recollection) to get a call-back, reducing his expenses! |

Historical fact | He Storage of relevant citations; see note for details; in Region of the British Isles, EuropeG+. The notes in the Place location for the Region of The British Isles, Europe are duplicated here for reference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The British Isles consists of many islands of approx 315,000 sq.km in the North Atlantic Ocean off of the north-western coast of continental Europe. The area was once joined to the mainland of Europe during the last glacial period of Quaternary glaciation (when the seas were lower with the most recent Ice Age) as a single mass of land extending northwest from the northern coastlines of France, Belgium and the Netherlands With the end of the last Ice Age the British Isles evolved into the islands of Britain, Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Hebrides of Scotland and more than 6,000 smaller isles; the islands of Alderney, Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, and their neighboring smaller islands are a part of the British Isles, even though they do not form part of the archipelago-they are islands off of the coast of France Ice continued to cover almost all of Scotland, most of Ireland and Wales and the hills of northern England as the islands formed; from ~14,000 BC to 10,000 BC, sea levels rose as the ice melted, separating Ireland from Britain and also creating the Isle of Man-in about 7,000 BC, Britain became separated from the mainland of Europe and was (presumed) to have been repopulated as the Ice Age ended; when Britain was still part of a peninsula of the European continent. Ireland was not settled by people until after 8,000 BC Today's climate of the islands is defined as "temperate marine," with mild winters and warm summers; however, as of the update in July, 2022 the islands are heating up along with the enire planet The North Atlantic drift does bring significant amounts of moisture to the islands, raising temperatures by ~11°C (20°F) above the global average for other locations around the globe at this latitude, 51° 28' 0.12" N-this led to a landscape long dominated by a temperate rainforest, although human activity has since cleared the vast majority of forest cover Britain remained physically separated from Europe until the Euro Tunnel under the Straits of Dover in the English Channel was opened on December 1st, 1990, linking Folkestone, Kent with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais (near Calais) via rail. Today's UK has been a part of the EU since 1973 and remains so, although there are active debates about its departure (March, 2019) Culturally, the United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland has evolved over many years At the start of the Roman Empire in the 1st millennium AD, the tribes of Hiberni (Ireland), Pictish (northern Britain) and Briton (southern Britain), all speaking Celtic dialects, were inhabiting the islands. The Romans expanded their civilisation to control much of Brittonic-occupied Britain in AD 43, but were impeded in advancing any further and built Hadrian's Wall to mark the northern frontier of their empire in 122 AD The first Anglo-Saxons arrived as Roman power started to wane in the 5th century, eventually dominating the bulk of what is now England; while it still remains unclear today, Don's ancestral line likely comes from here Initially, the Anglo-Saxon arrival seems to have been at the invitation of the Britons as mercenaries to repulse incursions by the Hiberni and Picts but over time, Anglo-Saxon demands on the British became so great that they came to culturally dominate the bulk of southern Britain, though recent genetic evidence suggests Britons still formed the bulk of the population. That dominance created what is now England, leaving culturally British enclaves only in the north of what is now England, in Cornwall and what is now known as Wales Ireland had been unaffected by the Romans except, significantly, for being Christianized-traditionally by the Romano-Briton, Saint Patrick. As Europe, including Britain, descended into turmoil following the collapse of Roman civilisation, an era known as the Dark Ages, Ireland entered a golden age and responded with missions (first to Britain and then to the continent), the founding of monasteries and universities. These were later joined by Anglo-Saxon missions of a similar nature Viking invasions began in the 9th century, followed by more permanent settlements, particularly along the east coast of Ireland, the west coast of modern-day Scotland and the Isle of Man. Though the Vikings were eventually neutralized in Ireland, their influence remained in the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford and Wexford. England, however, was slowly conquered around the end of the first millennium, eventually becoming a feudal possession of Denmark The relations between the descendants of Vikings in England and counterparts in Normandy, in northern France, lay at the heart of a series of events that led to the Norman conquest of England in 1066 (by Don's 35th Great Grandfather, William Beauclerc)-the remnants of the Duchy of Normandy, which conquered England, remain associated to the English Crown as the Channel Islands to this day A century later, the marriage of the future King of England Henry II to Eleanor of Aquitaine created the Angevin Empire, partially under the French Crown. At the invitation of Diarmait Mac Murchada, a provincial king, and under the authority of Pope Adrian IV (the only Englishman to be elected pope), the Angevins invaded Ireland in 1169. Though initially intended to be kept as an independent kingdom, the failure of the Irish High King to ensure the terms of the Treaty of Windsor led Henry II, as King of England, to rule as effective monarch under the title of Lord of Ireland. That title was granted to his younger son, but when Henry's heir unexpectedly died, the title of King of England and Lord of Ireland became entwined in one person The Magna Carta charter for Britain was written by King John and released June 15th, 1215; six of the Barons are part of the tree ( see the attached media file, "The Magna Carta Charter of 1215.pdf" for details ) By the Late Middle Ages, Britain was separated into the Kingdoms of England and of Scotland, while control in Ireland fluxed between Gaelic kingdoms, Hiberno-Norman lords and the English-dominated Lordship of Ireland. A similar situation existed in the Principality of Wales, which was slowly being annexed into the Kingdom of England by a series of laws During the course of the 15th century, the Crown of England would assert a claim to the Crown of France, thereby also releasing the King of England from being vassal of the King of France. In 1534, King Henry VIII, at first having been a strong defender of Roman Catholicism in the face of the Reformation, separated from the Roman Church after failing to secure a divorce from the Pope. His response was to place the King of England as "the only Supreme Head in Earth of the Church of England", thereby removing the authority of the Pope from the affairs of the English Church. Ireland, which had been held by the King of England as Lord of Ireland, but which strictly speaking had been a feudal possession of the Pope since the Norman invasion was declared a separate kingdom in personal union with England Scotland meanwhile had remained an independent Kingdom. In 1603, that changed when the King of Scotland inherited the Crown of England, and consequently the Crown of Ireland also. The subsequent 17th century was one of political upheaval, religious division and war. English colonialism in Ireland of the 16th century was extended by large-scale Scottish and English colonies in Ulster. Religious division heightened and the king in England came into conflict with parliament over his tolerance towards Catholicism. The resulting English Civil War (or "The War of the Three Kingdoms") led to a revolutionary republic in England Ireland, largely Catholic, was mainly loyal to the king. Following defeat to the parliaments army, large scale land distributions from loyalist Irish nobility to English commoners in the service of the parliamentary army created a new Ascendancy class which obliterated the remnants of Old English (Hiberno-Norman) and Gaelic Irish nobility in Ireland. The new ruling class was Protestant and English, whilst the populace was largely Catholic and Irish. That theme would influence Irish politics for centuries to come. When the monarchy was restored in England, the king found it politically impossible to restore the lands of former land-owners in Ireland. The "Glorious Revolution" of 1688 repeated similar themes: a Catholic king pushing for religious tolerance in opposition to a Protestant parliament in England. The king's army was defeated at the Battle of the Boyne and at the militarily crucial Battle of Aughrim in Ireland. Resistance held out, eventually forcing the guarantee of religious tolerance in the Treaty of Limerick. However, the terms were never honoured and a new monarchy was installed The Kingdoms of England and Scotland were unified in 1707 creating the Kingdom of Great Britain. Following an attempted republican revolution in Ireland in 1798, the Kingdoms of Ireland and Great Britain were unified in 1801, creating the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands remained outside of the United Kingdom but with their ultimate good governance being the responsibility of the British Crown (effectively the British government) Although the colonies of North America that would become the United States of America were lost by the start of the 19th century, the British Empire expanded rapidly elsewhere. A century later it would cover one third of the globe. Poverty in the United Kingdom remained desperate, however, and industrialization in England led to terrible condition for the working classes. Mass migrations following the Irish Famine and Highland Clearances resulted in the distribution of the islands' population and culture throughout the world and a rapid de-population of Ireland in the second half of the 19th century. Most of Ireland seceded from the United Kingdom after the Irish War of Independence and the subsequent Anglo-Irish Treaty (1919–1922), with the six counties that formed Northern Ireland remaining as an autonomous region of the UK The Royal Observatory in Greenwich is a historic observatory which played a role in the world's history and in science. It is located at Blackheath Avenue, London, UK. The observatory was founded in the middle of the 17th century by King Charles, and for its long history there are many famous scientists who worked in this observatory. There is a small museum and a scientific room in the observatory4

Occupation | about July 1968 | About July 1968 Donald James Shave, (named after his two Grandfathers), was a Don's work as a youngster in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. In July 1968 or so, Don's probation (above) had ended, and his work as a youngster started with many sunny summer days, spending time learning about the world of work… compliments of Dad, he supposes Don worked in the kitchen for a while at The Sea-Witch Hotel at 47 Haven Rd, Canford, Poole, a 30-minute bike ride from 70 Elmes Rd; they changed at some point to the Loch Fyne Seafood & Grill Restaurant: http://www.lochfyne-restaurants.com/restaurants/poole He also worked with his Dad, helping to maintain the gardens of rich people in Bournemouth, and spent Saturdays working with his Uncle Reg at the family Tape Recorders shop in Bournemouth (which moved to the main street in Boscombe a few years later), learning about electronics; Reg taught him about transistors, circuits & the resistor codes with a rhyme like "Betty Brown Rode Off You Get By Vera Good Wife Gold Silver"… |
Historical fact | 1969 | He Up to a lot of no good…; at Redhill Common, Kinson and other placesG, in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, in 1969. [ As Don wrote the details of this 50+ year-old diary entry in late 2018, the threads weren't really in his head, just some captures from various sources… ] Don became 14 on a Friday in July of 1969, with no recall at all as to what kinds of gifts might have been given by his Mum & Dad or Uncle Peter, and whether or not there was a party… It was likely that he was "out", making trouble He broke into the metalwork shop at the Oswald Road Senior School Annex with Johnnie Early and Dave Ellis late one night, likely in the spring. This was a real "pro" job-they planned the raid, knew what they wanted to take and where they were going to sell the stuff, etc, etc. They had left an upper window during class just open enough to allow us to get back in later at night; they were just lucky that no-one had spotted and closed it! We got in at about 11pm (all wearing gloves and soft-soled shoes, dark clothes, the works-regular crooks…) and raided the display case for all the brass and copper bowls, etc; a bagful of the stuff to lug out…we got halfway across the back playing fields before Dave realized that he had left his gloves behind…with his name in! they got away with the stuff ok, but Don then had a visit from the cops…they simply didn't have anything to pin on him or on any of them. they sold the junk later over in Boscombe for a few quid, and thought that this was the greatest thing…such youthful foolishness During the summer Don broke into the Bournemouth School for Girls with Johnnie Early, looking for mercury to sell…heard sometime earlier that week at school that this stuff was very expensive-it simply never occurred that it wasn't sellable in any shop they could go into! That was the night that Johnnie cut himself with a damned scalpel, and got a bunch of powder paint all over ourselves when trashing the place…Don's Dad was extremely suspicious when they got home (his Mum wasn't around), and when he returned from taking Johnnie home, he proceeded to say "OK, Johnnie told me the whole story; now I want your version!"… Don was scared shitless, and 'fessed up the whole deal… Of course, Johnnie hadn't told him anything of the sort, and couldn't believe that Don had bubbled him. they both ended up at the copshop that night, and his Dad later said that he had gotten the Chief Constable to "bend over backwards" to let Don off of what was probably a serious charge… he hated his Dad's guts anyway for lying to him to get a confession, and just a few days later, Don scarpered off (to Meyrick Park, in fact) one night Johnnie and Don also broke into the Glenmore Girls School that summer, and nicked a couple of cello's becoming the "music men" for an evening. He sold them somewhere, or maybe just smashed them up…Don saw no cash out of it either way! |
Historical fact | 25 July 1969 | He; at MudefordG in Christchurch, Hampshire, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, on 25 July 1969. Don's Dad took us out in his car on Sundays—one of these was to visit Hengistbury Head where there was a fort that had been built in the stone ages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hengistbury_Head and https://www.thebeachguide.co.uk/south-west-england/dorset/christchurch-mudeford-sandbank.htm Hengistbury Head is home to a plethora of nationally and internationally significant archaeological sites, with features dating from the Late Upper Palaeolithic to the Roman settlement of Britain, earning the site Scheduled Ancient Monument status Interest in the site declined throughout the Dark Agesuntil extensive development took place in Christchurch around 890 AD, when the Head may have been used as a lookout post; the area was heavily quarried during the Victorian period and nowadays receives over a million visitors annually Several archaeological digs have revealed that the site was occupied during the Upper Palaeolithic There is evidence of an open settlement of the Creswellian culture on the hill in the middle of the headland dating to around 14,100 years ago; with over 13,000 lithic artifacts it is probably the largest site of the period Most interesting were several blades typically found at Upper Paleolithic sites across Europe, but rarely seen outside of caves in the UK, where open air sites of this age are extremely rare.; people at the Head were heavily involved with the production of blades, further excavations identified 649 tools, dominated by backed blades, endscrapers and burins |
Description | September 1970 | He Don was expelled from school in September 1970 at Winton & Moordown Senior School, Coronation AveG, in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Don ended up as the 2nd kid to be expelled for being a problem child from the class of 5G at school (after Jules Stravinsky) in mid-September, 1970; (am guessing that) Dad knew not what to do…perhaps the final straw on the camel's back? Who will ever know… |
Description | 15 December 1970 | He Don was signed up by his Dad on 15 December 1970 at British Army Recruitment Office, 244 Holdenhurst RoadG, in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Dad signed Don up for a stint in the Army on December 15, 1970 at the British Army Recruitment Office, 244 Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth, Dorset, England That was after his seemingly endless futile attempts to try and keep Don off of the road to becoming a criminal (possibly from his own childhood learning), with Don's school eviction event (above) being his final choice (not actually spoken to me, but surely true enough…) "Let's have someone else give it a try as I clearly can't influence him enough…" |

Birth | 1 January 1931 | Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was born on 1 January 1931 in Neath, Glamorgan (Morgannwg) County, Wales (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Her birth place is also shown (in sources) as in Aberfan, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire and as in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire; Don also has notes that share Treharris as the location / NFIA1,2 |
Marriage | 29 September 1950 | John Barry Shave, Don's Dad R.I.P., and she were married on 29 September 1950 at Registry OfficeG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Don has no data (or any clue) as to how long they may have dated prior to the marriage; the reason is also unclear3,4 |
Death | 8 April 2010 | She died on 8 April 2010 at age 79 at Nightingale Nursing Home at 2 Roselyn Road in Talbot WoodsG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. The cause of her death (at the age of 79) on Thursday, April 8th, 2010 after moving into the Nightingale care-home (with Don's brother Alan's help) on Tuesday, March 3rd, was that she had failed her fight with liver cancer after about 4 years and passed away peacefully5 |
Cremation | about 10 April 2010 | She was cremated about 10 April 2010 in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. After the funeral service, Don's Mum was cremated; her ashes were scattered by her son Alan (Don's brother) and her brother Joe (Don's uncle) in a place known to us as the "Bluebell Woods," very near to her childhood home, where she had played along with her family; an image is attached |
Name | Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was also known as Lilian Maude.6
Person Source | She had person sources.7,8
Note | Don's Uncle Peter is attached here to ensure his tree connection; they were not married, just very, very close friends.
Note | The Godmother of Don's Mum was Agnes Evans.
Historical fact | about 1933 | She; about 1933. Don's Mum sadly knew nothing of her mother, Maud, who died from the childbirth of her brother Joe when Mum was just 2… Mum had just one photograph, which is attached |
Residence | 1937 | She lived in County of Glamorgan (Morgannwg), Wales (United Kingdom), EuropeG, in 1937. Resource event had no description; added / NFIA9 |
Residence | between 1938 and 1945 | She lived at Castle CottagesG in North Baddesley, Hampshire, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG, between 1938 and 1945. Dates are a tad fuzzy but the timeframe is correct for both the Cottages and the Bluebell Woods (images attached) The note at Violet Tegwyn Jones shares further information |
Residence | about 1939 | She lived in County of Surrey, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG, about 1939. Resource event had no description; added / NFIA10 |
Historical fact | 1951 | She; at BeachesG in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, in 1951. Snapshot caught of them on the beach; timeframe is a guess and may have been before their marriage |
Historical fact | November 1963 | She; in Manchester, County of Manchester, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, in November 1963. Don's Uncle Peter (a core part of the event) was in Manchester with Don's Mum for a few days in Nov-1963…Don is catching Mum's massive life change events here --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They had unexpectedly left together about 4 months after the disaster of Dawn's death during Mum's difficult delivery, and, at the age of 8, Jamie was sent to stay for a few days at Hedworth Court, his Gran/Granddad's Hotel (in Bournemouth) while Don's Dad went off to try and retrieve his Mum; could have been a weekend, as Jamie was in school There must have been a very, very cold spell at that time because the pipes upstairs in the guest rooms had frozen and then burst while Jamie was there; hence the timeframe. Gran took him upstairs to the rooms to see the blue lights of the heaters, as he recalls While there are no actual references as to what happened during the 100+ days prior to this, it can be certain that Don's Mum would have been heavily depressed from her daughter's death…she might have found in her mind something that was better than her (likely) angry & very unfriendly husband and his family, whom (it is suspected) had never liked her She did share her hatred for Don's Dad with Don on a visit (likely post-2008, Dad's death) where, upon her return from Manchester by Don's Dad, she was taken by him to Hedworth Court where she was surrounded in a room by Dad's family who "pecked" at her "like crows" (likely Don's Aunt Daphne, Uncle Doug and Granddad; NFIA); she also shared that people would cross the road (likely 70 Elmes) to avoid her --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don does know that things recovered for his Mum in the following years, with the agreed-to-birth ('with Johnny', per her diary) of Don's brother Alan in 1968, and the continued presence of Peter… Many memories: there were card games at 70 Elmes with Peter & June there was a day-trip (1965 or so) to the roller-coaster park at Southend-on-Sea with Don's Mum & Peter Dad was a plumber/roofer/etc around this time; when he was doing roof work with Peter, he managed to wreck his back falling off of a ladder Peter crashed his lorry and Don visited him in hospital Peter had brought his stolen chickens (in the early 80's) to 70 Elmes where they were buried in the garden to help keep him out of jail Don also recalls that when he lived at 14 Albany Rd (in the late 70's, with Jane), Peter did do our roof More memories are not yet shared here… |
Occupation | between 1965 and 1968 | Between 1965 and 1968 Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was an Operator at the telephone exchange in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. |
Graduation | about 1980 | She graduated about 1980 at Walton Hall, Kents HillG, in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG. After working on it for several years, Don's Mum received an OU certificate… see www.open.ac.uk for details Locations: https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+Open+University/@52.2528821,-4.2137133,7z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sthe+open+university!3m4!1s0x4877ab2e129dcb73:0x8cd2ce40201164d8!8m2!3d52.0246227!4d-0.7107079 |
Occupation | between 1981 and 1995 | Between 1981 and 1995 Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., was in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Mum was a MENSA member (www.mensa.org) with an IQ of 160, likely inherited to Don who's also pretty smart ;) |
Funeral | about 10 April 2010 | The funeral was held for Lilian Maud Evans, Don's Mum R.I.P., about 10 April 2010 in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. Don sadly could not attend his Mum's funeral as there were no flights available at that time to anywhere in Europe--the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano in Iceland (image attached) had exploded in April of 2010, filling the atmosphere with an enormous ash-cloud that prevented any planes from flying… |

Marriage | 12 January 1942 | He and Eileen Patricia Nicholls, Don's brother Mick's Mum & Don's stepmother, were married on 12 January 1942 in Long Ditton, County of Surrey, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Their marriage was at the Parish Church in Long Ditton (possbily with some of their families in attendance but NFIA) just 9-days short of Dad's 19th birthday, raising an as-yet-unanswered question: why? Don's best guess is that they were married for her (clearly inadvertent) pregnancy with Michael John, who was born a few weeks later… Mick's birth could have been a year later; a source (England & Wales, Civil Registration Marriage Index, 1916-2005) has his parents marriage date in Apr-1942; research to continue3,4,5 |

Residence | ABT 1934–1939 | John Barry Shave, Don's Dad R.I.P., lived at Borstal prison in Middlesex CountyG in Region of Greater London, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, ABT 1934–1939. Don’s Dad was sent off by Don's Grandad (his father) at the age of 11 to the equivalent of a borstal prison ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borstal#Corporal_punishment ) for reasons that can only be imagined… He was held there from 1934 to 1939, escaping often |
Historical fact | BET ABT SEP 1955 AND ABT 1989 | He; at 70 Elmes RoadG+ in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, BET ABT SEP 1955 AND ABT 1989. After his birth, Jamie's Granddad (his Dad's Dad) had decided in the autumn of 1955 that Jamie's Mum & Dad's flat at 10 Carlton Rd in Boscombe wasn’t the best idea for raising a child… He purchased a house for Jamie's family: a 1920’s detached brick house at 70 Elmes Road in Moordown, Bournemouth; view some history here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moordown#20th-century_development While there's no clue as to the actual cost of the purchase (a few thousand pounds, best guess) it would have been far more than Don's Dad had in the bank, if he even had had an account; there was a mortgage, but the deeds were not in Dad's name at all: Don's Granddad held them This is not known to Don at all until his Gran died in the late 90's, when the house deed was still being held by his Uncle Doug, the Shave family business manager; Don & his brother Alan managed to reclaim it for their Dad around 2005 Best guess as to why? Don’s Grandad couldn’t trust his son to not sell the house as it had been “forced on him” and that it “wasn’t his”… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contemplating the possibilities as to why this had happened, Don’s beliefs lean towards the strong probability that his Dad ( who was at that time aged 33 & was a very tall man at 6’8; view a snapshot of his profile here: https://donshave.website/Tree/DJ_Tree/individual.html#605 ) must have not been able to purchase a house at that time, hence his Dad's decision… he would have hated this but clearly accepted it, even though he and his father were never on the best of terms: see his Residence note at his age of 11? There’s little doubt about Don’s recollection of his Dad’s inability to retain employment in those days, preventing him from getting a mortgage to purchase a house Both his history & Don’s current knowledge of him show that his hatred of being “told what to do” and his unreliable temper & anger would be the cause: he’d use his fists to smash his boss in the face & then quit… can actively recall him changing jobs several times in the 50’s, 60’s and 70's He ended up working until his retirement for a local national Bakery as a vehicle maintenance mechanic, traveling up and down the country at any hour |
Name | He was also known as Tiny (because he wasn't… he was 6'8" & had size 13 shoes!), His Every-Day Name.
Name | He was also known as Johnny, (As His Wife Called Him.)

Note | Don's Dad had zero religious beliefs… his 1st marriage, though, was in a Parish Church (see his Marriage note with Eileen) yet his 2nd marriage (with Don's Mum) was held at the Register Office in the Town Hall at Bournemouth He never shared any advice for religion with Don.
Military | about 1939 | He served in the military about 1939 in England (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Don's Dad served during WWII as a paratrooper; heard from him that he "never jumped as he was too big" |

Occupation | July 1955 | In July 1955 John Barry Shave, Don's Dad R.I.P., was a Fitter (Garage) / shown on DJS's birth certificate in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+. |
Historical fact | about 1967 | He; at 70 Elmes RoadG+ in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, about 1967. While the timing of this fact is not precise, Jame learned from his Dad that he knew of Cockney slang… he would tell Jamie about how he would "take a ball of chalk over to under the apples & pears for a hit and miss" which translates to peeing under the nearby stairs that he'd walk to! Many other phrases exist: https://www.ruf.rice.edu/~kemmer/Words04/usage/slang_cockney.html |
Residence | before 17 July 2008 | He lived at 70 Elmes RoadG+ in Bournemouth, County of Dorset, England (United Kingdom), EuropeG+, before 17 July 2008. Don's Dad lived here until his death in July of 2008 |
