Death20 September 1643He died on 20 September 1643 at age ~23 at Stuart EraG in Newbury, Berkshire, England (Tudor), EuropeG. The cause of Henry's death (at the age of 23) on Sunday, September 20th, 1643 was that he was killed fighting
in the Siege of Gloucester in Tudor England in August 1643, and later in the first Battle of Newbury on 20 September 1643, where he was killed by a cannonball

Cokayne writes that "he was, according to Clarendon, a lord of a great fortune, tender years... and an early judgment: who, having no command in the army, attended upon the King's person under the obligation of honour; and putting himself that day into the King's troop a volunteer, before they came to charge was taken away by a cannon bullet"

The Earl of Sunderland is a title that has been created twice in the Peerage of England; the 1st creation came in 1627 in favour of Emanuel Scrope, 11th Baron Scrope of Bolton but the earldom became extinct on his death in 1630 while the barony became either extinct or dormant (see "Baron Scrope of Bolton: for more information on this title)

The current creation came in 1643 in favour of the Royalist soldier Henry Spencer, 3rd Baron Spencer of Wormleighton, held for just 2 months... he fought in the Battle of Edgehill in 1642 and was rewarded for his services on 8 June 1643 by being created 1st Earl of Sunderland, although the title cost him £3,000, a huge fortune at that time
