(I) Charles Taintor, the first of the line here under consideration of whom we have information, was a resident of South Wales, from whence he emigrated to America with his family in consequence of religious persecution, being deprived of a large estate in Wales by confiscation

He made his home in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he was the owner of real estate

He was a ship owner, made foreign voyages, and was lost at sea in 1654.
