DeathPOSS AUG 2021She died The cause of her death (at the old-age of 92) in August, 2021 is not known POSS AUG 2021 in Llanfabon, Glamorgan (Morgannwg) County, Wales (United Kingdom), EuropeG. Her death is not known & it occurred in today's Wales (location not known; used birth place) While she may have been alive as I wrote this (Sep-2021), Don presumed that she is gone-this was to bring her data details to the online tree
NoteIn his 10-Jul-2003 note, Don's cousin Geoff (Violet's son) pointed out to me that

"I've been chatting to my mother (Violet) and she remembers your mother quite well, as during the summers my mother and her sisters used to travel down to Southampton to visit Aunty Lil and family, and was quite chuffed to have a photo of your mother, as was my Aunty Betty

[His Mum also] remembers that when her parents took over 2 Old Cottages, the shed at the bottom of the garden was full of baking equipment which belonged to Jim. I don't know if you knew Jim was a baker and also a seaman, as my mother also remembers he used to stock up the cottage with tea-chests full of food before going away to sea so that the family was well fed when he was away."

NameHe was also known as Eadweard Edward Edward the Elder, King of England formerly Wessex aka of Wessex.
NoteEdward (by name “EDWARD THE ELDER”) was an Anglo-Saxon King in England, the son of Alfred the Great; he died 17 July 924 at Farndon on Dee in England

As ruler of the West Saxons (Wessex) from 899 to 924, he extended his authority over almost all of England by conquering areas that previously had been held by Danish invaders

Edward ascended the throne upon his father's death in October 899, and in battle in 902 his forces killed a rival claimant, Aethelwald, who had allied with the Danes. After defeating the Northumbrian Danes at Tettenhall, he set out in August 912 to subdue the Danes of the eastern Midlands and East Anglia

From 910 to 916 he constructed a series of fortified enclosures around his Kingdom of Wessex. At the same time, his sister, the Mercian ruler Aethelflaed, constructed a complementary series of fortresses in the northwest Midlands

In 917 Edward and Aethelflaed launched a massive offensive, quickly overwhelming the entire Danish army of East Anglia. Upon Aethelflaed's death in June 918, Edward assumed control of Mercia, and by the end of the year the last Danish armies in the Midlands had submitted. By that time Edward's kingdom included all the lands south of the Humber estuary; in 920 he pacified Northumbria. Complete political unification of England was achieved during the reign of his son and successor, Athelstan (reigned 924-939) [Encyclopedia Britannica]

Following copied from Barry Hummel, Jr
Well-trained by Alfred, his son Edward 'the Elder' (reigned 899-924) was a bold soldier who defeated the Danes in Northumbria at Tettenhall in 910 and was acknowledged by the Viking kingdom of York. The kings of Strathclyde and the Scots submitted to Edward in 921. By military success and patient planning, Edward spread English influence and control. Much of this was due to his alliance with his formidable sister Aethelflaed, who was married to the ruler of Mercia and seems to have governed that kingdom after her husband's death

Edward was able to establish an administration for the Kingdom of England, whilst obtaining the allegiance of Danes, Scots and Britons

Edward died in 924 and he was buried in the New Minster which he had completed at Winchester

Edward was twice married, but it is possible that his eldest son Athelstan was the son of a mistres
