Death20 September 1643He died on 20 September 1643 at age ~23 at Stuart EraG in Newbury, Berkshire, England (Tudor), EuropeG. The cause of Henry's death (at the age of 23) on Sunday, September 20th, 1643 was that he was killed fighting

Cokayne writes that "he was, according to Clarendon, a lord of a great fortune, tender years. and an early judgment: who, having no command in the army, attended upon the King's person under the obligation of honour; and putting himself that day into the King's troop a volunteer, before they came to charge was taken away by a cannon bullet"

Title8 June 1643He held the title of Earl of Sunderland on 8 June 1643 at Stuart EraG+ in England (Tudor), EuropeG+. The Earl of Sunderland is a title that was created twice in the Peerage of England; the 1st came in 1627 in favor of Emanuel Scrope, 11th Baron Scrope of Bolton but the earldom became extinct on his death in 1630 while the barony became either extinct or dormant (see "Baron Scrope of Bolton: for more information on this title)

The current creation of this title came in 1643 in favor of the Royalist soldier Henry Spencer, 3rd Baron Spencer of Wormleighton, held for just 2 months. he fought in the Battle of Edgehill in 1642 and was rewarded for his services on 8 June 1643 by being created 1st Earl of Sunderland, although the title cost him £3,000, a huge fortune at that time
