He also was the Governor of Berhamstead Castle and the Steward of the King's Household. He had a grant of the bodies and ransoms of 3 Welsh Barons: Rene ap Grenon, Madock ap Vaughan and Audoen ap Madock. He was appointed the Seneschal of the Duchy of Aquitaine and in 1318 Seneschal of the Gascony. He was summoned to Parliament

He was granted a royal charter by Edward II for free warren at his manor of Aston Clinton in Buckinghamshire. The same grants were also made for the manors of Saxlingham in County Norfolk, Knolle in County Somerset and Woneford in County Devon. He received a special license from the King to make a Castle of his house at Kensington in the County of Oxford
