Note | | In 1639 he (and two other boys) was ordered by the Particular Court held in Hartford to be whipped first in Hartford and then within 8 days foiling in Windsor; apparently for having relations with Mary Holt-see Public Records of Colony of Connecticut by Trumbull 1: 28, 309. In 1644 he bought 14 acres of land in Windsor. On 10 Feb 1707/8 he made his will providing for his wife Esther, his children: Rebecca Warriner, Anna Bancroft, Mary Gunn, Abigail Phelps and Nathaniel Williams and his grandchildren Edward Griswold, Abigail Barnard, and John Williams. The will was probated 2 Jun 1712 and objected to due to the fact that John Williams had been 96 years of age at his death had become childish and infirm; the court approved the will but it was appealed to the Superior Court. The inventory of his estate (which was taken the 14 May 1712) was worth 222 pounds. |
