Note | | Action at law in 1528 by Thomas Sherman, of Yaxley, with respect to land which belonged to his mother, Agnes, derived from her husband, Robert Hendry F.D.S
ABC-17173 indicates 9 sons, possibly taken from his will. But there are 10 sons listed with Thomas not assigned a birth order and this son had a will proved 1551, the same as his father, which makes one suspect that this son Thomas may be in error. Where the daughter Mary belongs in the birth order is not indicated
The Thomas Sherman of Yaxley, w.p. 1551, begins the Sherman Pedigree in the Visitation of Leicester, 1619 (Harlelan Society, Pub.) which gives three or four generations of his son William. (NEHGR 51)
He resided in Yaxley, Suffolk, and was an attorney at law of the Courts of Common Pleas and King's Bench, having a large and active practice. He was a church warden of Yaxley Parish, and Deputy Sheriff of Suffolk County. As shown by his will and the records, he was owner and tenant of many parcels of land in various places in Norfolk and Suffolk and lord of several manors. NEHGR 51: 357, "Notes". Sherman, and 1865 Census of Allegheny Co., NY. According to his will, Tomas owned the Manor of Royden, Royden Tuft, Appurtenances at Royden and Besingham and other property in Norfolk, and Suffolk Counties. |
