Name | | Avelina HaraldsDóttir was also known as Wevia Dogeline Senfrie. |
Note | | Sister of Gunnora, wife of Duke of Normandy
Weis' "Ancestral Roots… " (184: 1) calls her Duvelina, the sister of the DUCHESS GUNNORA (RIN 1309). ----------- In a posting to the soc.genealogy.medieval newsgroups on the Internet on Tue, 10 Sep 1996, Todd A. Farmerie explained:
"Robert de Torigny, the only source we have for the existence of Osbern de Bolbec, says that he married a sister of Gunnora, named Wevia. Some copies appear to have dropped a couple of phrases, making it appear that a different sister, Duvelina was mother, but this appears to be incorrect. Well, Gunnora (and hence Wevia) were sisters of yet another, (whose name I forget) who was wife of the forester. In addition, they had a brother, Herfast/Arfast, who was of similar rank. We do not know who their father was. Who was Osbern de Bolbec's wife and who were her parents? Wevia, and no one knows." (source: Jim Stevens' Genealogy Homepage) Note: The supposed birthdates of Gunnor (abt 936) and Wevia (abt 1020) confound the issue further. ----------- Parents:? |
