| Note | | (Several sources: History of Princeton, pp. 74-85) "He probably came to N.E. in the spring of 1634 and settled in Cambridge, MA. Soon after, he removed to Concord and from thence to Duxbury and in 1640 to Barnstable, where he remained for 15 years. About 1655 he sold his property on the Cape and moved to Concord where his wife died before 1671"
(sources: Davis, Horace, Ancestry of John Davis and Eliza Bancroft; c. 1897 pg 17 / Some Royal, Noble, and Colonial Ancestors (see Dolor Davis) pgs. 91-92 / Willard Memorial, by Joseph Willard (Boston 1913) p. 101 / Willard Genealogy, by J. Walker and C. Walker c. 1915 pgs 106-8)
Margery's mother was buried 12 December 1608; Willard died in February 1617 Simon Willard, her brother, sailed with his family for New England, in May 1634, and probably Davis came on the same vessel, leaving his family behind him
On 17 April, 1635 "Margaret Davies" with three small children, sailed from London for New England, in the "Elizabeth" She had two brothers, at least, who emigrated, Simon and George. Mrs. Davis came over with her brother, and arrived at Boston in May, 1634. Her husband also came over in the same fleet
She was born at Horsmonden, probably in the year 1602 and was baptized there on Nov. 6, 1602
Simon Willard, his sister Margery, and her husband, Captain Davis, were all at Cambridge in the summer of 1634. Davis had a house-lot on Water Street. On this spot Simon Willard lived, I suppose, until his removal to Concord. They owned contiguous out-lands on the west side of Charles River; Willard having one hundred acres there, with a house upon it. This land, which bounded south on "Boston Bounds," he sold in August, 1635, when he was preparing to go to Concord. |
