This was once Don's Ancestral Tree, now no longer valid…

Snapped in 2013 at a German restaurant in Hong Kong

Welcome to a “now-less-valid” view of my Ancestral Family Tree!

To begin, please consider switching to my current & dynamic tree view here as that shows you the latest accurate data… Cheers!

You are of course **very welcome** to stay and review this view of my family tree, much of which is still of interest! The best start-out of your visit here is to click & review the sidebar menu items; the “Help” page will add value to your time ;)

So, if you're looking for an individuals’ information (a sample) click the "person" icon at either the Father or the Mother, scroll down to “Families” & then click on the appropriate child's "person" icon in the list that will be shown.

On any Pedigree Chart, you can click the "root person" button (top-right) to go to my Pedigree Chart.

Both the Pedigree Chart view & the Individual Detail page use colour-coding for my family groups in the tree data.

Finally, if clicking an icon doesn't seem to do anything, refresh the page? Please let me know if you find a glitch…

Each person in the report has a “set of facts,” some formalized, some not (see Objective Evidence info)… a visit to a famous relative, James Fitch shows dozens of formalized facts! James (see his research data?) was born in 1622 in England, coming to America in 1638 at the age of 16 (Colony of Connecticut, British Colonial America) & becoming Reverend Fitch in 1646. He is historically famed for being instrumental in the founding of both Norwich & Lebanon (!) and is also the 9th paternal GGF of my spouse; her immediate family tree is not held here in detail.

Sources of facts typically have clickable links (or can be copied to Google for research) for further information;
each link goes to the many, many locations around the world, showing the person's birth, death, marriage, titles & many other things. The facts take you back into history from today's 3rd millennium, allowing one to "travel back in time" for more than 7 millennia… A handful of ancient biblical references are in my static tree report; visit the "Most Ancient of Actual Ancient People" and the person who was (at the time of the creation of this report) the furthest back generation back in time in my tree data? Also, you can visit the dynamic tree for the Descendants

An interesting fact discovered in my research was that Geoffroy V was the first of the "Plantagenęts" (as spelled here, his name is 'en Francais' -- English would be "Geoffrey") and is my 25th paternal Great-Grandfather. As you can see in his profile, he is the originator of the Plantagenęt Kings of France & England. The Plantagenęt surname was derived around 1130 from Geoffroy's use of sprigs of "yellow broom blossom" that he wore in his hat; the name is from "genęt" (French for "planta genista"), Latin for the broom shrub.

My most remarkable discovery in my family tree research was that William I (born in October, 1024 in Beauclerc, northern France) is my 27th paternal Great-Grandfather! He became Duke of Normandy, and later the 1st Norman King of England by wielding his sword along with his army in the Battle of Hastings… The battle for England was fought on Senlac Hill, just seven miles north-west of Hastings, Sussex on that Saturday, October 14th, 1066. The last Anglo-Saxon King, Harold II of England was killed by Williams' Norman forces at the end of the bloody, all-day battle, shot in the eye with an arrow, according to legend; his forces were also destroyed.

There's also actual genetic history here, (theoretically) making me a battle-capable warrior!
The information in this report is the actual "Objective Evidence" that was auto-generated by the RootsMagic tool (see below). As updates to the data are extremely difficult to integrate correctly, they are sadly unlikely… also, the automated stories can be way "off-base" so I corrected some, some not…

Aside from my static data and the dynamic data, the static report describes my many ancestral families (e.g. 90+ family generations), each with people & events that contain places, dates, stories & pictures, as well as many of my thoughts & threads which are shared throughout the report…

The creation of this website for my static tree view in September of 2019 had 13,472 people, hundreds of whom were privatized as living people… view the static Stats & History for more details? The static tree has continued to grow, recently reaching 15,730 people; stats etc for the dynamic tree are here.

Organized lists of the static related places (in large PDFs) show the date, event & person/couple here (sorted alphabetically by place) & here, sorted by Country… this page also shows the colour-coding

The events shared in these static lists allow you to view a person’s details: download & open a PDF, use the search function for the name & then copy/paste the person ID (which is on the right) onto the “individual.html” link as “#nnn”… An example here is the birth of Arnold Thorvald Jensen, who is the 1st person listed in the “sorted alphabetically by place” PDF.
The facts, images & sources for the people shared here were each derived from the tens-of-thousands of events that exist in my ancestral tree database… this website was created as a snapshot of my tree using "Generate files for a website" in RootsMagic ( use F1 in RM or click "Google RM" for more info on the tool? )

Various changes, corrections, etc were then made to the auto-generated files (using an XML editor & Microsoft Word) to tweak the report before I uploaded it.

Historically, my genealogy research began in 1988 when I helped my son to build his grade-school assignment for a family tree; see more info here? I subsequently purchased the Parsons Family Origins tool (PFO) to start building the database for my family tree, and transitioned to the Family Tree Maker tool (FTM) when PFO was discontinued. FTM was also discontinued in 2016, which brought me to today’s fabulously awesome tool, RootsMagic!
View some of their history here… for another view, open this & click on “Family Origins”?

Any privacy issues or concerns that you may have with this online structure are controlled as described in my Privacy Policy & Disclaimers page; please visit this as you need?

Incidentally, I made my personal data available in this report by declaring to the RM tool that I wasn't alive!!
Colourization is used for various individuals in my tree to indicate their relevant tree branch:
    Don:           Blue & Green (me, my Dad & his family+ancestors) & Green (my Mum, etc)
    Joint:          Maroon (the start of one of our mutual ancestor branches) shows as "lighter red" in this page;
                       view the PDF for better color shades; other colors used include Lime, Yellow and Purple
    AdoptionsBrown; see Barb Daniels
    Romans:    Teal, a blue-green; see Arthur Pendragon

People who are colour-coded in Red are at the end of a given tree branch; those that are not coloured at all are the indirect descendants in DJ's tree branches.
My profile page and the "Whom We Might Be" story are also shared here, along with some key reports that were extracted from the static tree data: Stats & History, the Key generations and a list of the Sources

You can also visit my Ancestry tree, which was at the time of writing this a virtual duplicate of my static tree data.
It shares the data in the "standard" tree view vs. my page…   Note: Ancestry requires you to sign in; eMail me if you need help?
Well, as that's all the background tree info I'll share here for now, enjoy your visit!
Don’t forget to see my current tree?

Feel free to share your thoughts, comments or criticisms etc via eMail? Cheers!
