Patience was the daughter of the Ruling Elder, William Brewster;
She had moved from England with her parents and siblings to Amsterdam in 1608-1609; Leyden 1609-1623; probably living with the Robinsons after her parents departed for Plymouth in 1620 aboard the MAYFLOWER
Her mother, Mary had left Patience and her sister Fear in Holland with their older brother, Jonathan (whose wife and infant daughter had died c.1620) and had taken the two small sons to London where they picked up her father, William, and continued on the MAYFLOWER to Plymouth. Mayflower ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Families in Progress-William Brewster 2nd Edition,Pg 8 & 9
No birth record has been found for Patience Brewster
The year of birth for Patience has been ascertained from the fact that she was a witness to the betrothal banns of Anna Crackstone and Thomas Smith, entered 7 December 1618 at Leyden, Holland. It is presumed that she was at least 18 years of age at that date ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Family Tree Maker CD171 Genealogies of Mayflower Families, A-F Pg 390

The family was apparently armigerous (bearing heraldic arms) as Thomas Prince Senior, in his will of 1630, bequeathed a 'Seale Ringe of Gold' to his son 'Thomas Prence now remayninge in New England in parts beyond the seas'" (Hufbauer 17)
