Public Service Claims. Court Booklets and Lists (reels 1-4) (arranged by county)
Biog./Hist During its session begun in May 1780 the General Assembly passed an act authorizing the governor to impress supplies needed by the American army. The governor appointed commissioners of the provision law in each locality to carry out the terms of the act. The commissioner, when he impressed property, gave the owner a certificate describing what was taken. Between 1781 and 1783 county courts held special sessions at which certificates were presented and authenticated, and booklets listing authenticated certificates were compiled and sent to Richmond for settlement. Two commissioners appointed to settle the claims recorded those for which they authorized payment, and warrants were issued by the auditor of public accounts

It is found in a biography about John Abernathy Tinnon, stated on pages 455-456. That full biography, as presented in the "Sketches of Prominent Tennesseans" appears as a story under John Abernathy Tinnon ****************************************************** Judge Tinnon’s youngest brother, Rev. R. M. Tinnon, D. D., pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian church in East Nashville, Tennessee, studied for the law, but when the war came on joined the Third Tennessee regiment, under Gen. John C. Brown, and with that regiment, fought all through the war; was taken prisoner at Fort Donelson; exchanged; was in battles around Vicksburg and Port Hudson; has thigh broken at Chickamauga by a minnie ball; was again captured and exchanged just before the close of the war
After the war he taught school in North Alabama; professed religion under the ministry of Rev. George Mitchell, studied for the Cumberland Presbyterian ministry, was duly ordained, and took charge of the church at Huntsville; remained there three years, then went, in 1877, to East Nashville and took charge of the church there. He married Miss Sallie Preston, of Decatur, Alabama, about the close of the war, and has five children, Meta, Mae, Tullie, Roberta, and John Baird. He is a progressive man, one of the best pastors in the church, a natural born speaker, and one of the leading clergymen of Nashville. He has two other brothers, both farmers, William A., near Florence, Alabama, and Capt. J. M. Tinnon, near Alva, Mississippi. They were both soldiers in the Confederate army. Also, a deceased brother, Rev. Joseph F Tinnon, who died in 1852, leaving two sons, one of whom, Rev. James F. Tinnon, of the Methodist Episcopal Church, south, is now stationed at Mount Pleasant, Tennessee
