We've decided to write a short (but
newsy) note with our [then] new address and some Sprrring Gossip…
First, let’s talk about family! Easter was really neat…my wife's extended family came to our house on Easter Sunday for a nice ham dinner (part of which joined the creation of an absolutely delicious split-pea soup a few days later!) and a great afternoon spent watching the Wisconsin team play their semi-final basketball round on our new large-screen TV. They didn’t win, but it sure was a nice game to watch!
My mother-in-law flew up from their “winter nest” campground in south Texas to stay with us for the weekend while Bob drove their motor home back north to their home, arriving 2 days later, and flew home with Amy.
Our younger daughter & her boyfriend Wiley drove her 12-year-old car up from Alabama to visit with family for the weekend & to get set up with her new car. As you might imagine, her smile was really pretty wide with this upgrade!!
My son is surviving very well in Washington DC, working with the American part of the US Peace Corps. He’s thinking about signing up with the international gang, teaching English abroad; sure sounds like fun! We visited DC for a long weekend in early March and had a very nice visit, meeting some friends.
Our other daughter continues to enjoy studying for her Masters Degree in Physical Therapy in Charleston, SC. She spent her spring break week with friends, reportedly very relaxing!
We drove our convertible car to Madison for a weekend day recently to get a little “air in our hair” and to enjoy some of the spring weather, which is now upon us with 60+ degrees and wonderfully warm, brilliant sunshine! The heavy snows have now all melted, causing a lot of fields to be flooded. High time for it all to be gone in preparation for the summer…
A little house gossip… having set most of our inside-the-house stuff in the “correct” places, we’re now working on finishing the interior decorations with wallpaper, window trimming here & there as well as wall hangings, hallway rugs & so forth. Loads of fun every weekend!!
Outside, our driveway, walkways & patio as well as our gardens, grass (instead of rocks and mud) and some trees, shrubs, flowers, etc, are also all getting into gear. This will hopefully be done in time for our “100 Years of Living” party in the summer. We are both hitting the big “Five-Oh” this year, so we decided to have a memorable outdoor celebration for our many friends: sizable garden tent with beer, wine, snacks and perhaps a roasted pig? Hmmm…
One final note: we’re coming to visit UK for a few days in early September. More to come on when & where as we finalize the plans!
