This is about our visit to Lucca during our Italy Trip in May, 2019

ps: sadly, this isn't set for iPhones/smaller screens… :(

On Tuesday May 14th we checked out of our Florence hotel & took a taxi to the airport for our car… it simply didn't allow me to drive (too small!), so I became the guidance unit!

Driving to the ancient city of Lucca (which today still has intact Renaissance-era city walls), we stopped at Pisa around 11:30am to visit the Leaning Tower .
Don was snapped "saving it" .  as was Sandy (!) .— we then strolled a little, stopping for a bite and a beer!!

As we departed Pisa after lunch, our hotel in Lucca called to advise us that we had to change our room to another location… the prior occupant had apparently broken the shower!
We eventually got hooked up with them and checked in OK, parking the car nearby.

This was our "new" hotel .  (not our car!) and the stairs up to our room .

We headed out around 9pm for a late dinner…

Wednesday, we arose & headed out around 8am (it was a pretty chilly morning!) and drove to Riomaggiore, pausing for a bite . en rout.

We found the place & parked on the 6th floor — this was after a failed stop at a McDonald's (they opened @11am / found our way just in time to another… whew!) and we then walked doooown the hill to catch a train around 11:20. We took the train (no snaps) to the end . & strolled around little, resting for a bit by the boats .
We could've taken a boat back . but decided that it would be just too darn cold & windy! Sat down for an outside lunch which was a bit breezy, but nice!
Rode the train back and then drove home (after we finally found our way out of the parking lot!) with more enjoyment! Relaxed after we reparked near the hotel & headed back to the room to recuperate.

We headed out in the evening for one of Rick Steve's dinner-spots, only to find that they were not open on that day <eSob>… picked another & hung out w/chips with our beer and Prosecco… pretty nice!!

You could now continue to our villa in Cortana, return to Florence, visit Rome, or Sorrento or return to the main trip page
