Don's consulting business (CLS) was created in MD, USA the early 1980's as part of his major career transition from service & maintenance of computer equipment with Burroughs Corp. to the development of software and systems for medical imaging devices…
The business title came from Don's natural creativity and his logical approaches to rapidly find solid software solutions.
After a couple of very hectic years, CLS went "on hold" for more than 20 years… Don secured a short-term contract for what was described as a "difficult embedded-firmware project" with GE Medical Systems (now GE Healthcare) in Waukesha, WI USA, and the rapid & very successful deployment was viewed by the section chiefs as such a high-end business win that they asked him to take on a full time position…pretty cool for a fella that didn't even complete high school !
When Don was involuntarily retired from GEHC in 2008 (due to the global business crash), CLS was restarted...
A few decades prior to the world of CLS (view Don's work history), Don was in the British military (at the
AAC
and then with the 7th Armoured Brigade, including a Belfast tour of duty), in England (and in the Eastern states of the US) with Burroughs, followed by some time at Fairchild near Germantown, MD, then a short stint with the original CLS that brought multiple decades with GE Healthcare in Waukesha, WI in the early 80’s, and thence to the most enjoyable retired state !
Multiple key leadership roles were held in each of these with various activities, most recently in the GEHC Engineering teams, developing products and more recently, focusing on the world of internal problems around the design & development quality systems…
