Y2K -- Just One of the Many, Many, Many Millennium Parties…

New Year's Eve on Friday, December 31st, 1999 allowed many people to host an incredibly large number of Y2K celebrations around the Entire Planet for most of the day…
Here's a mere smidgen of our Most Highly Enjoyable Evening in the Entire Midwestern United States!!

Sandy & I pretty much worked our b*tts off most of the day, preparing for the fun. She lived in the kitchen, chopping, sorting & generally creating the Party-Effect Center, with Don scurrying around hauling stuff from point to point & even hustling out shopping for a new pair of dance-floor 'speakers (yes, he blew out his mid-range during "testing") and his sparkling dance effect lights. Sandy also made a list (or 3) & checked it twice, so we were pretty well prepared!

People started showing up around 6:30pm with Dan & Karon (first to arrive) helping us to be "ready". As we worked our way up to the Midnight Moment, we had what seemed like dozens of guests showing up with arms full of food, booze & gifts (for which we were VERY THANKFUL!!!). We ended up with food for about 50 with beer, wine & booze for twice that many! Everyone got to enjoy the delicious array of food (arranged so tastefully by Sandy!) and the Most Excellent choice of beverages (coolers & bar orchestrated by Don). The GE "Party Foul" Shouts'N'Shots were flying around all night so we managed to move some of the alcohol out of the bottles, too!

The conversations were interrupted from time to time by the TV showing the ongoing fireworks displays from around the world as the time-zones marched towards us for the Midnight thing. Conversations in other rooms sometimes paused as Don was asked about his Monster Woofer Speakers that he demo'd the volume up to just this side of bleeding eardrums…
Is Don deaf, or what?    What?    Whaaaat?!?

Tunes were also drifting up from the selected CD tracks on the computer, the Sun-room CD collection, & eventually from the pile of 45's. Dancing wasn't until around 11pm but when we got that rolling, it became the blast of the night. Super-DJ Don plowed thru his old scratchy 45's finding some great 70's stuff & a couple of GREAT dance tracks from the CD collection. We had a full floor, that's for sure!

Wow… we had lots of fun swilling & munching & yakkety-yak-yak-yakking all over wrapped up in a hooting & tooting & hugging & kissing Midnight Moment! Just a Wow Party when you add it all up!!

So, some Useful Party Advice? Good Housekeeping usually has a couple of nice ideas (along with some stuff to sell!)

Party Planning is always such fun, isn't it? We did a pretty much bang-up job with the Party Directions… Predicting who might or might not come from our large pool of friends & acquaintances was an Algorithm that we didn't quite figure out, but certainly not for lack of trying! Not that it mattered, but this was somewhat related to the flood of Leftovers… probably enough for a month here!

A couple of well-weathered ways to help with that Post-party Trauma…

Hung Over A Little? Whew… Try Harvard Health's Care & Feeding of Pink Elephants for some good ideas, along with some pretty cool advice on how you might make "Perfect" Tea & Coffee! More specifically, how about repairing the Pain of a Hangover? And how about the Chinese way to fix this… sounds like a complex solution, eh? Whoo, baby…

Party Residue?

Don't you love finding those spilled-snack fragments scuzzing up your carpet? How about washing the humongous piles of dishes, glasses, etc? Pfft! The CheapSk8 guys have a couple ideas, too. Ah, well… cleanup's just part of the package!

Well, our thanks once again to all who joined in the fun… Let's do another one in a week or two!
